Non-Ferrous Operations Manager - Metals Recycling - Base Salary to 115k/year - Auburn, ME

  • Our client, a leading metals recycling and processing organization, is seeking a Non-Ferrous Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at a high-volume recycling facility. This role is responsible for non-ferrous material processing, inventory control, team leadership, and environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance.
  • This position will manage material flow from inbound purchasing through processing and outbound shipment, while driving operational efficiency and safety performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of a non-ferrous metals recycling yard, including receiving, grading, sorting, and processing materials
  • Manage inventory levels, material flow, and yard organization to support efficient processing and shipment
  • Supervise and develop a team of 9 employees, including scheduling, performance management, and training
  • Direct processing activities including sorting, baling, and preparation of non-ferrous metals for sale/export
  • Coordinate inter-yard logistics and material transfers
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and company policies
  • Monitor and improve equipment utilization and uptime across yard operations
  • Partner with maintenance teams to address equipment repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Support purchasing of non-ferrous materials from retail and supplier channels

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in metals recycling, scrap processing, or non-ferrous materials operations
  • 2+ years of experience supervising hourly employees in an industrial or yard environment
  • Hands-on experience grading non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper, aluminum, brass, stainless)
  • Experience operating in or managing a scrap yard, recycling facility, or similar heavy industrial environment
  • Familiarity with material processing operations such as sorting, baling, and material segregation
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment used in recycling operations (e.g., loaders, forklifts, balers)
  • Experience supporting or coordinating maintenance of processing equipment
  • Ability to reliably travel to the facility and work on-site in Auburn, ME

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 100k - 115k/year plus bonus
