Title: Summer Camp Group Assistant

FSLA Classification:

• Seasonal Fulltime (June 8 through August 7)
• Nonexempt (hourly)

Reports to: Summer Camp Group Leader

Date: May 7, 2026

Role Summary: The Group Assistant should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, alongside group leaders. The camp will include both office and field-trip environments. The group Assistant will supervise children ages 6-14 and model activities and behavior. The Group Assistant will help create curriculum and lesson plans. The position is Monday through Friday.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for supporting daily program needs.
• Engage with participants in a positive, approachable, and respectful manner.
• Monitor campers’ safety during all activities; address any concerns promptly and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Help with the clean-up of the activity area.
• Maintain open and clear communication with campers, coworkers, families and camp management; addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
• Curriculum Building: Contribute to creating a fun, inclusive, and supportive curriculum where campers can learn, grow, and create lasting memories.
• Engage 100% in camp activities, actively leading and participating alongside campers, encouraging their involvement and skill development.
• Lesson Prep: Assist in camp lesson prep and supervision.

Hours

• Seasonal position starting June 8 through August 7, with June 19 and July 3 as paid days off
• Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30 with Friday as a paid planning day

• Passion for outdoor activities, sports, nutrition, cooking, arts, or other camp-related pursuits is a plus.
• Languages: Bilingualism (Spanish) is desirable

Work Environment

• This is an in-person position and involves the use of a shared office space and work within a classroom-like setting and outdoors. It also involves accompanying children to regular field trips in the community.

• Lifting: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to walk with children to various events and activities in the community, including on uneven ground
• Field trips will include the local pool, local creeks and rivers, and bike riding, etc.
• Ability to read and follow directions
• Ability to verbally communicate
• Ability to hear and comprehend

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Age 18+
• Clear background check required
• Previous experience working with children, preferably in a camp or educational setting.
