Construction Accountant

Location: 12893 SW Impact Dr, Indiantown, FL

Day‑to‑Day Duties

  • Record and reconcile daily construction‑related transactions, including labor, material purchases, and subcontractor invoices.
  • Prepare and review job‑cost reports, profitability analyses, and variance explanations for each active project.
  • Assist project managers with budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, and financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Process payroll for onsite personnel and ensure accurate allocation of labor costs to the appropriate jobs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to resolve billing discrepancies and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Generate month‑end and year‑end financial statements tailored to construction activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and analysis as needed.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for all accounting records, ensuring compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements.

Must‑Have Qualifications (Essential)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong grasp of construction accounting principles, job‑costing methods, and GAAP.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail‑oriented with a proven track record of accurate financial reporting.

Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications (Desired Experience)

  • 2–4 years of experience specifically in construction accounting.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing for hourly and salaried construction staff.
  • Exposure to vendor and subcontractor financial interactions.
  • Understanding of tax regulations and compliance issues unique to the construction industry.
