JOB DESCRIPTION  
CONSTRUCTION  ACCOUNTANT   

SUMMARY  

The   Construction Account ant   is a  self-motivated individual who will be responsible for assisting  with   overseeing an d directing the  accounting  and reporting functions   for in-house GC  construction  activities .  The position will prepare monthly  bank draws, perform regular G/L accounting &job cost accounting  functions, and prepare financial reporting .  This e mployee is expected to understand  and  assist in  manag ing   the process of flows within the  a ccounting  d epartment.  Work is performed according to established policies, procedures, and deadlines.  This e mployee is expected to exercise discretion and judgment, develop work routines and complete assignments with minimal supervision. This is a  salary,  exempt position.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work either performed or managed by this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.  

  1. Prepare monthly  GC draws for each construction project by receiving the monthly construction billings from the  subcontractor and combining that information with direct construction costs for review by Controller .  

  1. Compil e and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, for intercompany  business transactions, corporate  cards, and complete   related   GL  reconciliations .  

  1. Code and pay overhead business costs for Construction entity and bill back to job’s if needed.  

  1. Assist with  p repa ration of monthly financial reporting packages and  delivers to management.  

  1. Prepar es reports for management as and when require d .  

  1. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential .  

  1. Maintains prompt and regular attendance .   

  To get a full understanding of the  department’s needs and cross training with Project Coordinators :   

  1. Prepare Sub c ont r acts and  o btain subcontractor COI’s and W-9’s  e nsuring compliance with TDC requirements for onboarding purposes .  

  1. Processes vendor invoices, credit card charges, and subcontractor bills in accounting software (reviewing data entry for accuracy and verify proper project/departments).  

  1. Follow up with Project Manager to make sure all change orders are entered to Procore .  

  1. Contact subcontractors for lien waivers as required and  ensure proper lien releases are obtained from vendors prior to payment .  

  1. Tracks subcontractor’s licenses and insurance to  e nsure both remain current for one job.  

  1. Monitors and reconciles contractor retainage accounts.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

Bachelor’s degree in accounting with  two or more years  of  experience in  Construction  Accounting required or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides required knowledge, skills, and   abilities.  

Knowledge  of   personal computers and  Microsoft software  products , including experience with contracts  and  job costing is a must .  Knowledge of  ERP  Systems, Procore and Textura a plus .  

  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIT Y  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS   

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk;  stoop ; talk; sit at a desk; hear; lift and/or move up to twenty pounds; and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust, focus and spend extended hours using and viewing a computer monitor.   Accuracy reading and entering numbers is critical .  

  WORKING CONDITIONS  

Work is normally performed in an office work environment, which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet. The employee may be required to work a flexible schedule and periodically work overtime as needed. Travel will be minimal if any.
